My Treatment Approach

My approach to treatment is informed by social justice values. I take a nonjudgmental stance with my clients, to understand and explore intersections of identity. I value humor, compassion, and respect and utilize culturally humble practices. An important part of treatment is understanding your unique situation and building upon your strengths to foster resilience. I work collaboratively with clients to develop an individualized treatment plan that promotes healing, growth and change.

I provide brief and long-term therapy from a gender-affirming and multicultural counseling approach. I work from a psychodynamic and relational perspective, and also frequently draw upon Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and mindfulness techniques. This means that I help people cultivate insight about their relationship or identity concerns, while also offering concrete tools so they can start to make effective changes and feel more empowered.

I specialize in working with underrepresented communities, including BIPOC and LGBTQ+ clients, creative thinkers, artists and activists.  I welcome clients of all backgrounds, genders, sexual orientations, races, faiths, and abilities.

Asking for help may be hard for some. Maybe you’ve thought about it for a while, and are still undecided. I invite you to contact me for a free initial phone consultation to see if we might be a good fit, or if I can provide you with another referral or helpful resource.
